‘Build your own revolution’ the
backdrop to the picture for the 3 members of Gnarwolves, which is painted onto
the plain white sheet with ‘revolution’ written larger and in red paint rather
than black.
-
Throughout the article there is
a theme involving paint, one of these is the use of a brush of paint to
separate blocks of text from one another, this connotes the hands on and DIY
idea this band seem to follow.
-
The colour theme chosen here is
black, red and white. These colours are very basic but are very effective
because of this, the red connotes the power and energy the band wish to
generate. Whereas the black and the white create contrast, which helps focus
the article and the structure chosen to guide it.
-
The stance the band is
positioned in is a very effective method of changing the entire mood of the
article. Here we see the lead singer knelt in front of the other members with
an out stretched hand holding a spray can, (which relates to the DIY aspect
again.) all 3 are covers in tattoos and are dressed like skateboarders, mostly
because that’s what they really are. These all connate the background and
social group the band are in, and in some ways now represent.
- Noticeably throughout the double page spread there are small images
of things such as: skateboards and wheels, images from famous skate brands and
covers of their hand made albums. These all give context and connote the bands
views and hobbies.
