- This contents consists of 2
separate pages, each with different purposes and thus different effects.
-
The first of the 2 pages is
focused upon this issues special features and the cover story. Its layout is
not all that conventional as it seems to mimic that of a front cover. This is
due to the large, full page image of ‘Elvis Costello & The Roots’ with
nothing but the ‘features’, ‘cover stories’ and large ‘CONTENTS’ title spread
across the top of the page in the same style as the MOJO typography for the
logo, again mimicking a front cover. The separate sells are all flush left and
kept neatly inside a slightly transparent grey box. This is all clearly within
MOJO’s house style.
-
The singular image on the first
page of these contents can relate to many different connotations and styles. Firstly
there is ‘Elvis Costello’ dressed in a full-length striped suit, with the hat
and shades to go with it. This is a solid connotation to the lifestyle he
clearly leads and the genre of music he is involved in. There is also the
second figure in this photo, again with a suit jacket on, with the brick heart
badge and glasses we can see that this man (member of the Roots) is clearly
involved in a similar music scene, which explains why they would collaborate.
-
The second page of the contents
consists of a lot more text than the previous one does (½ text ½ images)
further more it is filled with the regular sections of the mag.
-
The images on this page are
varied yet very relevant as like all magazines they are obviously to do the
issues content. The pictures on this page also seem to be positioned in a very
random and unorganized manner.
-
The typography chosen by MOJO
is another key house style. The logo itself consists of a 3D effect, which makes
it jump out on the page this is done in a rather subtle and reformed way. Which
only credits MOJO for the time they have put into their companies branding and
image.
