- - A
very sleek style to this contents page, rather typical of Q and their mode of address. This is due to their demographic. As you soon realise with
this magazine one of their major house
styles is to create an overall connotation
that the type of people who read this are high end, sophisticated and
knowledgeable in the art of modern music.
- -The
layout reinforces this previous comment as we can see that this design is
cleverly thought out to create ease for the reader and to psychologically push
forward the more important and prominent articles in the specific issue.
- -The
running head on this contents page
is again well within the conventions
Q follow. For instance the vibrant red used heavily throughout this mag is used
as the backdrop for the title, or the logo ‘Q’ that is again often featured on
most, if not all pages is predominantly placed in the upper left hand corner.
- -The
typography used is again is typical
of Q, the black, red and white mix upon the UV varnished page is a major
reinforcement for the ‘sleek’ mode of
address once again. There is also the simple, but very effective font type
used, it has such a bold impact that to not be able to find the article you
want on this page would make you all but blind.
- - The
central image for this page if the lead singer of artic monkeys, it is taken
from slightly below his eye line, making him the dominant figure to us. Also he
is wearing blacked out shades and a golden chain around his neck with this and
the accompany of the slicked back hear we are given a very vivid image of what
to expect from this man, and thus what to expect from the article (cover story.)
- - The
placement of the images further centres the ‘cover story’ photo; they are set
around the central image, and with the compliment of the separate ‘Q review’
section we are truly dictated upon what it is we should be focusing on for this
issue.
